magnum stroker install questions
« on: July 18, 2010 - 12:58:43 PM »
i was at the local dragraces yesterday and bumped into a fellow cuda owner who recently purchased a 408 magnum. he said that the oilpan was an issue and the pulley system that he wanted to use wouldn't work. he ended up getting so frustrated that he gave up on the magnum and bought a complete carb to pan la stroker. i can buy this for CHEAP, CHEAP and it was built by '' fast cars '' in edmonton, alberta who i believe have a reasonable reputation.
before i buy this thing i would like some input from some people who have done the swap, what all will i have to change? what oilpan will be a no hassle bolt in? can i use my pulleys, water pump, alt ect?

I have solved the magnum pan , we used a regualr LA pan & filled in the corners bent & welded , I would use a sepentine belt system from a magnum

thanks for the reply. what other issues might i run into? are the headers the same? sounds like i will have to go back to an electric pump  :stomp: but maybe i will see about a submersible to quiet it down.

The headers are interchangable.

You can use all the LA front end ancillaries and run a mech. fuel pump if you use an LA style camshaft with the longer nose.

Don't forget about engine balance - is the 408 stroker externally balanced?  If so your flex plate/converter will need balancing to suit.

i had a look at this thing and it's not a stroker, just a done up magnum engine. like they say, if it sounds to good to be true, it probably is.
