Labor to repaint 1 rear 1/4
« on: July 20, 2010 - 04:11:06 PM »
Trying to get an estimate to strip and refinish 1 rear 1/4 panel with no body work needed at all. Getting all different prices and hours. How many hours sounds fair to strip, prep and paint 1 rear 1/4 panel on a Challenger????  Opinions please......

Couple variables-base/clear or single stage?Painting a quarter involves either blending the roof or painting the roof and other quarter as there are no break lines for the panel.Rough estimate-8-10 hrs plus materials for quality job and depending on what condition the paint is in.

paint is good shape and the car has a vinyl roof. I'm guessing single stage since the car was painted in 93.

You would still have to blend the door I would think and I'm not sure about the trunk and panel behind the rear glass.  $1k minimum based on what I got quoted for a door a few years back.

For $1,000 to $1,500, do some reading (autobody and painting) and practice and repair it yourself.

Considering the paint is in very good shape and there is an art to doing good quality paint work, I am not going to learn on this car! I would love to learn, but then I would need a good place to do it also. I enjoy the mechanical work, but not the body work.
