Inner fender?
« on: July 01, 2010 - 07:40:07 PM »
Ok here goes. I just got some new front fenders for my 72 cuda. I stuck them on the other day just as a test fit to see how they looked, and it didn't look right. It seemed like there was way too much room between the fender and the engine bay walls. So I have been trying to look up inner fenders through yearone.com and all I am coming up with is panels that look like the engine bay walls on the fender sides. Is there not a panel that goes between the engine bay wall and the fender to cover up some of the stuff on these cars? Or am I not looking in the right place?

Ok looking at this picture below it is easy to see that there are no fenders on it. Just a complete engine bay and hood. Well everything that can be seen on the side there where the fender goes can be seen through the wheel wells on the fenders, including the a-arms, springs etc. I was just wondering if these cars had something that covered all that up from view or if that job is left strictly to paint and tires.

Agreed, throw the fender on there and that's the whole picture.

Ok guys. Thanks a ton for that info. This has been driving me nuts for a couple of days now and I couldn't find anything that worked but of course I wanted make sure it's done right the first time so I couldn't let it lie till I got an answer lol.

So other than getting another door handle and a lock set, I am all set up for this going to the body shop! Just got to get the money together for the body guy.

the front squarish hole is the front camber access and takes a metal cover with 2 screws, the rear larger areas take a rubbery shield that holds in with spring clips, at the back of each fender, is a shield that screws to the cowl and seals off the fender, in the front of the fender is a shield to close out the head lamp bucket.

All that's going to have to wait lol. I have decided to just do the body work without the front clip attached. My next goal is to do the suspension and I am going to leave the fenders off to make that a bit easier. So I'll get around to all those little extras when I am actually done with suspension/wheels/brakes, etc.
