CD/tuner Cuts Out
« on: October 31, 2008 - 11:20:29 PM »
When I use the turn signals, my Pioneer CD/tuner will cut out temporarily for a second, come back on for a few, then cut out again.  It does not seem to parallel the blinker flash.  The CD/tuner works fine otherwise.  It doesn't matter if the headlights are on or off.  The power to the CD/tuner is through one of the orange auxillary ports on the wiring harness.  The wiring and alternator are new.  The amp meter runs at the center, neutral, position when driving and shows a deflection to the discharge side when the brakes, blinkers, lights, etc are on.  Am I overloading an aux circuit or have a low voltage issue?  Maybe the new alternator (stock replacement) is not working properly?   Suggestions? :1zhelp:

the Orange orts are dash lighting , you should be plugged into red or yellow , it should not overload that circuit under normal draw

Thanks CP, I'll make sure I'm sourcing power out a red or yellow plug.  :2thumbs:

I believe red is switched & yellow is constant power

CP, got under the dash with my voltmeter today and figured out the red is constant voltage and the yellow is switched... FYI.  I got the stereo working correctly and thanks for pointing me in the right direction  :cooldancing:

I always get confused , most stereos are red switched & yellow constant power , SO Mopar is backwards
glad you got it straightened out  :2thumbs:
