Next dumb question. Somebody put in a 90 degree corner so I can't see how much fluid is in the case, but I can't feel anything so I'm guessing it's a little low. I have 2 quarts of Valvoline Hi performance sae 75W-90 gear oil. It says it's ok for transmissions that use API GL-5 or MT-1 fluid. I have no idea what's in the case now, but will it be ok to use this with whatever is in there now? I'm going to replace the fluid pretty soon, but I don't want to cook the trans before then.

If its got gear oil in it now you can use it.  Chrysler also used ATF in 4-speeds.

I would take off that 90 degree fitting.

I already took it off. Once it was off I could get a little oil on a q tip and found that it's gear oil. It was pretty low and after I topped it off it's shifting taking off a lot better
