All rebuilt by NAPA. First one had bent shaft where the pulley attaches, plus the pulley was the "gold" colored replacement and the offset was wrong so the fan belt did not line up correctly.
Second one had the correct OEM pulley, but upon further inspection found the front bearing was defective, could feel and hear the click click as you rotated the pulley. So ordered another alternator.
Third one had "wrong" gold colored pulley but good front bearing. So swapped front cases. The rear case on the third one had helicoil in one of the brush holder screw holes, the helicoil fell out when I removed the brush assembly, so at this point had correct front pulley, good front bearing, good armature, good field coil, but needed the rear case.
Fourth alternator was the last one Napa could get without having to start charging for shipping. It had what initially looked like a good rear case, all holes good threads, then I noticed the rear case casting was cracked at one of the brush holder screws. Did not think the casting could be repaired by tig weld, risk was the small part of the casting would melt away with the heat of welding. So loctite applied to the screw and will look for a good condition used alternator at the parts yard for back up.
