The 543 kit is the biggest kit you can go with.  It will have a 4.5 stroke and 7.1 rod.  You will have to grind the block to fit the counter weights.  I think Matt used this kit with his engine.  You will also need to use an external oil pick up (an extra $300-400.00)  The biggest kit you can go with for internal pick up is the 512 kit.  I opted for this kit here from mancini:

I saved four or five hundered of dollars by going with this kit vice the 440source kit.  I did not order it ballanced (which will cost me about $200.00).  I only sacraficed about 40-50 cid as I was looking for a 4.5 stroke kit, but Im happy I got high quality parts at a great price.  That was the thought process behiend it.  So I will end up with a 493 cid RB.

Good luck either way you go.  I love reading about guys dumping large cubes in their ebodys!

alright, thanks guys, so 572 is out of question. what would you estimate the hp/tq difference between the 512 and 543. and what would be the sound quality between the two. since they both are the same price (besides external oil pickup), i wouldnt mind spending the extra couple hundred for the oil pickup as long as hp/tq and the cound qaulity is worth it. i, as most of you im sure, love heavy thumpin cammin engines, so if the 543 would be alot more noticable over the 512 then id obviously prefer that. ive looked for videos but cant find any to judge sound between the two.

I don't know about a comparison, but I know from seeing Matt's car this year at Carlisle it flat out has a TON of go.

His 543 is just nasty for the street, but he drove it to PA and back no problems and can light 'em up with no hessitation.... had me wondering about waking up my big block the same way.

I should also say what I mean about nasty, unless you are packing don't pull up next to him on the street  :2thumbs:

The way I understand it (Im NO expert) is that the large displacement of strokers will eat up a lot of cam, so what you think is a large cam for a 440 is a very small cam for a 512 or 543 so bigger cubes will mean bigger cam to make it "thump" im assuming in the way you want it too.

If it were me and money was no object I would go with the 543 kit.  But if we are talking horsepower to dollars then I would go with the 512 kit.   :2cents:
