What's the deal or problem with a Fiberglass TA Hood and the hood hinges and springs?

Does it weigh less or more?

It doesn't stay up like a metal RT Hood?

Fiberglass hood weighs a lot less.  The fiberglass hoods typically bow in the hinge area because of the constant pressure exerted by the springs.  Many people remove the springs to help with the problem.  This rod looks like a nice way to hold the hood up with out the springs.

T/A hoods use a different hood spring than a steel hood. It's a lighter spring.The first spring I bought didn't hold up the hood very well, but I gave it to another member and it held up his T/A hood fine? I then bought another vendors hood spring and it works great now! The bars I made are good when at a show on a windy day, just a little precaution so it won't slam shut.
