My new QuickTime bell and scatter shield install has been held up by two rubber lumps at the back of the oil pan, as in the photographs bellow. I'm assuming this rubber comes from the half moon rubber oil pan gasket.
Ideally I'd like to just cut the lumps off or sand them back, working under the assumption that its just excess gasket which has been pushed out of the oil pan to engine block interface.
I'm just wondering if the gasket could have been pinched, such that if I cut off the excess all of the engine oil will come flooding out?
Is a pinch in that location even possible?
Any info would really help as I'm currently waist deep in a transmission swap!
