drip rail weather stripping etc
« on: August 02, 2010 - 12:21:25 AM »
So what's the order of installation for the drip rail parts. I've been going through and inventorying parts and I have a stainless pieced as well as a fairly thick piece that I seem to remember both being installed in the door/window opening. The thicker one has a fairly thin chome/stainless trim along the edge. Is this what holds the weather stripping? Does the thin one go on first and then the thick one? Does something go in between? It sort of looks like there was a foam barrier between the thin one and the body.

It's been a long time since this came apart and I've only done it once. Trying to get the proper order of events.

Thanks again.

Is there a way to save a thread to a personal favorites list on this site?  The link posted above is one that I'd like to save.

Also, I removed two adheasive backed foam seals from the car and saved them.  I was looking at the thicker window chanel trim and it still has its seals on the back.  Does that other set go between the drip rail trim and the car...or does the drip rail trim mount right to the car?

It looks like the trim was installed over top of the vinyl top.  Is that correct or should you trim the top material away from the mounting flanges?

EDIT:

I looked at that link again and it what I thought was the edges of a vinyl top look like it is a foam seal.  So there should be two sets of seals?  One between the drip rail trim and the body and one set between the drip rail and the window chanel trim right?

I'd still like an answer about the vinyl top though.  Should you trim the extra material out from under the mounting flanges or just screw it down?  Thanks

Are the seals available or what is the solution for replacement?

Also, this (list favorites) seems like a problem that could be solved for all members of the site so solutions like this could be easily found for all members. I think I'll post to a less specific sub-board.

Also, is the headliner held in place by the interior trim or the weatherstripping channel?
