70 Charger 500
« on: August 01, 2010 - 11:02:59 PM »
I know this is not a Challenger, but I hang out on this site way more than the Charger site (besides I know you guys like all Mopars!).  Anyway, been working on the second round of restoration on my 70 Charger 500.  This round includes replacing the trunk pan and doing some minor bodywork, repaint, complete rewire, new gas tank, rechrome bumpers, front disk brake conversion, deep tranny pan, new horns, radio, and heater control valve.  As usual, the restoration has snowballed and I'm doing way more that originally intended  :banghead:  Got the car back from the bodyshop this weekend and had to show off some picks.  The paint job was was more of a refresh job than a major repaint effort, but it came out great for the $$$ spent and now what little rust issues it had are gone  :woo:  So a few pics to wet your whistle  :cooldancing:

Thanks Guys.  Sprecks...this is a numbers matching 500 and it has the standard 383/727 combo that came on about 80% of the 70 Charger 500's.  I have put on better intake manifold (Aluminum 4bbl), Edelbrock carb and TTi headers, but not much more (engine work could be the 3rd restoration round  :grinyes: ) I have all the original parts in storage.  The color is Dark Burnt Orange (FK5) and that is the original color along with the white vinyl and interior.

Should look pretty good when it's finished.  I just sent off the bumpers to get rechromed this week.  That big wrap-around bumper on the 70 Charger should look great with new chrome.  This will be far from a high quality restoration, but it will be a beautiful driver/weekend show car.  :bananasmi

Whitesatinmopar...any pics of your 500?

I got plenty of pics, but something has happened to our software program, I can't download from the camera memory card or even scan, so I have pics out there in cyber puter space and can't get them.  :pullinghair:  In fact the pic software icon has dissapeared like somehow it has got erased. Also I can no longer use google, I got to go through bing for searches...? And I'm about the most stupid guy there is when it comes to computers other than just surfing around.  :pullinghair:   :roflsmiley: I think Pam could fix it but I also think she knows I'd download some babe pics too.   :smilielol:  :smilielol:

Excellent color choice, my challenger is the same color and just so everyone knows the pictures do the color no justice whatsoever.....the color looks even better in person.
