Rear Bumper Filler

Hello all,
I switched the bumpers from my 73 challenger over to 70-71 bumpers. Can anyone tell me if the metal bumper filler from the 70-71 is needed?

the earlier bumpers sit a little closer to the tail panel . But there is still a gap and you will see under the tail. the 70-72 rear filler is available.
