Risko,
You do realize that a Big Block Mopar automatic transmission like the one in your photo bolts directly to the back of the engine and does not use a bellhousing-?

That's what makes it a big block trans; bolts right up.

WHAT???? I was told I need a BB bell housing if I convert from my 318 setup!
Obviously I have no business being anywhere near an engine or transmission without major assistance LOL :roflsmiley: :clueless:

What are you putting it in? Meaning are you using a slap stick set up? If so make sure it has the mounts for the linkage?

Yeah, it's called swapping the entire trans when talking AUTOMATICS...4-speed Requires BB Bellhousing to go from a SB to BB as the bellhousings detach from the 4-speed manual trans..The Automatics don't, it's all one unit...

If you let us in on what your plans are, I'm sure we can steer you in the right direction, and probably get you good sources for exactly what you DO need.

At one point I was thinking of a 4 speed conversion along with a big block swap and it was probably around then that I was told I would need a BB housing which has stuck in my head. But now I've just decided to stick with the auto for a while and just swap motors in my 73 Barracuda.
Luckily I will have a neighbor helping me with the swap although he is more a GM guy and doesn't know mopars that well. Fortunately this board is a wealth of info which can be obtained in just a few taps of the keyboard. Thanks guys!

What exactly do I need for a swap aside from the trans and BB motor mounts?
The exhaust system has not been purchased yet fortunately.

Well, We would need to know what year BB you are going with...(Cast crank VS Steel crank)..One is Externally balanced and one is internally balanced...Tell your buddy helping you, it's the difference between trying to dump an Externally balanced 454 where an internally balanced 350 SB came from..You need to chage a few things with the torque converter depending on which year and size engine you are going with...
