I swear I'm almost done
« on: October 25, 2004 - 07:12:54 AM »
Hello all, 1 last series of questions regarding my new clutch install:

Clutch pedal/clutch rod adjustment - I know that with the pedal pushed to the floor there should be no clutch contact, but is there a depth or amount to adjust this to?

Shifter linkage - It almost feels like the throw to first seems short and the shift to 2nd seems long. Am I crazy?
I tried to keep the ends from turning during the removal, but as Forrest Gump would say " It happens ".
I took it for a quick spin and I don't know if I'm over examining it - it stayed in all of the gears and wasn't difficult to shift.
So is there any "formula" for setting the shift linkage as well.

Like I said, almost there, just fine tunning. Thanks again for all the help.

you want approx 1" of play at the top of the pedal travel so the release bearing is not dragging constantly
to adjust the shifter you want to have all th\e rods centered int he middle of the shifter , there are holes  in all the levers a& a small U shaped guide int he housing where a small pin can be slide through to center all the levers properly
To change the length of the throw you need different levers on the side of the tranny , the shorter the lever the shorter the throw

Update -

Took the Challenger out for the last cruise ( Halloween how scary ) and all was well.
The real scare came when some a-hole cut me off though 'cause he thought dumb a$$ vans have the right of way.

Trans shifts smoothly, clutch holds nicely and life is good!

Thanks again Chryco for all the help, and try working on that snow thing  ;D
