converter help

Have sum questions?The converter I have now is supposed to be out of 74 360.The only weights on it are on the outside of it.Is that to balance the converter only. Can I use it with a forged crank on my 340.Theres a drain plug and a number 10 thats it. 12"or should I just buy a new one. kind of low on funds just had motor rebilt. thanks for your help.

I'm pretty sure you can use it on your 340 if you knock the weights off. The forged crank 340's are internally balanced and don't use any external weights like the 360's do.

This is the converter.The weights on the side, are these what I should remove to make it a neutral converter?

I would say yes, but hopefully Terry will jump in here and confirm that.

If that was behind a 360 it was the wrong converter. The weight you have pictured is to balance the converter, NOT the engine. Do not remove it. That is a low stall also and your 340 won't like it, but it will "work" behind  forged crank 340..

These are the weights that should  have been on it for a 360 engine. (the two next to the threaded converter bolt pads with the drain plug in between) If your converter would have had these,you would have needed to knock these off to work with your forged crank 340.

Thanks for jumping in there Terry! I thought it was kind off an odd place for an engine balance weight.
