70' cuda 383 in great condition, new project!
« on: September 18, 2010 - 01:44:36 PM »
Just had a 70' cuda dropped off to restore as a winter project.  I did a 65' mustang when i was about 20, start to finish, but otherwise im a newb to the classics.
This thing is in awesome shape, but hasn't run since 1989.  Looks like it was raced at englishtown, and has had some motor work done to it previously
If any of you guys want to sound off on what you think your first steps would be, i want to turn this car into something street worthy/track ready!
Thanks!

Welcome to the site!  That thing definitely looks like something out of the late '70s to early '80s, but it's pretty neat as-is (minus the hood scoop). :2thumbs:

Well I guess I have some questions before I sound off.  How far are you wanting to go?  Are you going to keep the current paint theme?  Are you leaving the motor in and just hoping to make it run as is?

If it were me, first thing I would do is strip it down to a shell and complete all needed body work and then apply a fresh coat of paint.  Then I would detail all the parts and put it back together.  What does the interior look like?  Did it come with a front bumper?  Either way you go, that looks lke a very cool project and I would still be jumping up and down with excitement!

If your going to drive it, leave it!
If your going to just use it for shows, restore it.
