Replicate 71 Wide Fender/Hood Moldings
« on: September 23, 2010 - 08:09:28 PM »
I was looking at a pic of a car with these moldings the other day and it occured to me that the look is very similar to the bumblebee stripe. So, to the people who know paint better than me, do you think the look could be replicated with paint?

Definitely,

I've seen cars at SEMA that looked like they were dipped in Chrome plating. And I don't mean the Okie chrome plate stuff out of a can.

That have a place that sells some paint that really looks chrome even had a chrome crapper on the site.
At one time I thought about making moulds from my wide 71 fender and hood mouldings and making some in fiberglass with bolts in them. I thought that they might look ok painted right.
{ie}1970 Challenger Vert...black car/black top/black interior/ gloss black wide moulding with the indented part matte black, with matte R/T stripes, matte R/T hood blackout.
Add in orgainsol painted duck tail spoiler, grille, and SE rear panel.
But now have SE trim for hood{rear} fenders, doors and quarter panels and the vert ones past that are a given.
It's a plan  :cooldancing:
