Detail day
« on: April 21, 2010 - 04:52:51 PM »
Well today I had some time to detail the Cuda.

The paint looked very good, but had that feeling like a good clay bar would help.

Man I wish I would have know about this stuff years ago, if you have never used this process I highly reccomend it!

Saves hrs of wax time and makea the finish smooth as silk. I did my 09 Challenger last year with a Zaino kit unreal a lot of time and more $$ but the best among the best. On the Cuda today I used a Mequires kit and washed the car 1st real good with a lot of dish soap to remove the bit of wax on her 1st. Then used the clay and cleaner/lube as stated. Then followed up with a cleaner/wax, and finally a detailer polish. All Mequires stuff. Very good, night to day diff, looks like th ecar was color sanded with 1500 and re-polished. It is that good. Takes nice paint and makes it look better than ever, even removes a some of the orange peel if you have that going on too.:)

I will get some pics when the weather is better.

Also as an fyi, I found this product and am very very impressed with it. I used it under the hood, in fenders that needed a better finish, and am going to do the inner trunk areas too. Factiry paint in a can, they have the origional Mopar paint codes ou match to.

They even sell a clear coat, but they are all the origional paints from Mopar. They put this in a touch up jar, pen, and a spray can, you can even get a kit to convert the can to a gun type, and of course they sell the paint too.

But if you are using this for under the hood, inner fenders etc and prep good 1st, this stuff is pre mixed and has the catalyst etc and all hardening agents in the cans. You can clear it when finished too if you like and even color sand. For those inttrested here is a link.

I would not paint a entire car, but I bet a corner of a fender etc with a deep scratch could be sanded, primed, and painted to match just fine.

I will post pics of the under side hood and trunk areas too.

The clay bar treatment is an interesting process. I have only used Maguires up until now. It is some work, but best done in the shade. If the "lube" dries as you are rubbing the clay bar, you streak and are pretty much back at square one.    :pullinghair:

OK A few new pics since I installed the wheel well trim, polished most of the stainless, and finished the claybar treatment. it still needs one more coat of final zaino show polish, but it is looking a lot better. I have touched up the paint under the hood, trunk and detailed the engine bay attempting to get this 70 as close to stock as i can with what it has to work with.

Except for the 134 AC conversion and the added Mopar Electronic ignition it is prety much spot on.
