Cooling Expansion Tanks and increased Capacity
« on: September 16, 2010 - 06:49:18 PM »
Ok I would like to know if anyone has installed an expansion tank etc in a way that can increase the capacity of the radiator and thus help the cooling system some?

Here is one I was looking at, and would to know how best rather just connecting as an overflow to the radiator.

Is there a way and or pics somoeone has done to tie it into the intake coolant ports etc, and does it help to offer better cooling?

I am not looking for an overflow can, but a way to increase storage and flow etc..

thanks guys

I went to the scrap yard looking for one but couldn't find one the right shape. So I made one out of 2 air conditioning dryers. I cut and welded them together and welded a bung at the bottom to expand and draw from. I used the cap off of something and made and welded a top that the cap fits on. Total cost....0$  works like a charm!
It's on the  bottom left in this picture, attaches to the rad with a length of hose..
It has to work better than having a empty section in the rad?
