HELP!! leak at waterpump need fix.
« on: September 13, 2010 - 08:51:48 AM »
This couldn't happen at a worse time Im only two days away from having my car inspected for license.. Its a 360. I noticed that the power steering pump belt was loose.. [ I knew I shouldn't have touched it  :swear:] I had to loosen off the adjustment nut and sure enough that one goes into a water jacket  and now I cant stop it leaking between the block and pump.. Tried tread tape and non hardening sealant I just cant tighten it up anymore. Any other tricks guys??  :clueless:  WTF did they make it like that.. :pullinghair:

Between the pump and the timing cover or the timing cover and the block?

I've read of similar problems when the bolt was to long... Add a thick washer & see.

So far good news. Last night I let the water drain out of the hole, plus a little extra I cleaned up the bolt and put sone tread tape on and some non hardening sealant . I put it back in and did it up as tight as I dare. This morning I went out and filled it up and nothing came out phew! when I got home still OK , I went around the block a few times and it seems ok, The only good thing that came of this is that I found a new belt that I had fitted , it is done up a little too tight though  :22yikes:  not touchin' now  :misbehaving:.. Let see if I passes licensing on Thursday  :-\
