Fender Tag Code & Part No 70 Challenger TA
« on: October 22, 2010 - 08:21:36 PM »
Hey guys,

For a 1970 Challenger TA, can someone please provide me with:

* The Trim Tag Code for a VT (vinyl top)?

* The Part Number for a Fan Shroud specifically for a 1970 Challenger TA?  Does anyone have any suggestions for locating this part?

Thanks a lot.

Four different vinyl tops were available, what does your tag say?

I'll look for the radiator shroud part number.....

Is there a unique PN for the radiator shroud on the T/As?

No. Other 1970 340 E-Bodies used the same number - with & without AC.

Okay, no V1X on my tag, so it must not have come with a black VT :(

I searched around, but did not find a master list for decoding Challenger Trim Tags, so if anyone wants to take a crack at it, that would be great.

The FE5 FE5 indicates the top was painted to match the body.

If a vinyl top came on the car, that code wold be where the FE5 code is on the third line up.

If it were a two-tone paint car, the second paint code would be in the same spot.

If you would like a professional fender tag decode done for it, visit this link;

For clarification on the fan shroud, do I understand that the 1970 26" 340 shroud is part number 2998326 and the b & e body Big Block shroud is the same number only with a "P" added to the front?

There are no other applications for that number in my 1970-71 parts book.

The P prefix means Performace line, ie Direct Connection / Mopar Performance or whatever they go by now. It may fit, but I would be surprised if it looked exactly the same as the original. A lot of their restoration parts are 'off'.
