i was going to but a complete rotating assembly from mopac, cast crank, i beams rods and forged pistons but lately i have found alot of parts on kijiji and craigslist. if i buy piece by piece i would get forged crank and h beams for the same price but what would i be missing? i assume that all rods will work with all cranks?

 another question, there is a member on moparts selling some new '' nascar 340 '' rods, he explains that they are very heavy [ 900 grams ]. i looked up eagle h beams and they are 600 grams, would these heavy rods actually hinder performance to the point that you would feel it? i don't plan on building a screamer just a street brute.

I bought a 408 stroker kit from Mopac about 3 - 4 years ago (Eagle, Probe).  I tried to assemble it but the pistons hit the crank throws.  Neither Mopac, Eagle or Probe would lift a finger to help and I paid for the machining and rebalancing.  Perhaps kits are better now or perhaps all the vendors are much the same.  The 440 Source BB stroker kit prices are hard to beat but not sure about SB kits.  The machine shop I used said one advantage of getting the kit from them is that they are obligated to fix these problems.  I suppose its easy to say after the fact.  The parts should not be more money from an engine builder as they can buy them from Mopac at a discount.
