I wouldn't doubt mine is pushing the high end of the scale. With my big tool box and all my spare parts stuffed in that trunk, there is some major weight back there. It makes me feel more secure when I drive it though. If anything stupid would go up, I could probably fix it. Anyone else carry around spare ignition boxes and coils?

I carry around all kinds of parts (even an alternator), mini air compressor and a complete set of tools but had them out when the car was weighed.  I hate to take them out because as soon as I do I know I'll need something.  So far in 8 years and 40K miles I have used 2 coils, an ecu, ballast, fan belt, spark plug wire and alternator and a regulator.

My '73 440 4sp weighed in @ 3750 with no driver. Only aluminium on it is the intake. That was using the MTO scales beside the highway.

Well you must understand im not a drag racer the car was left in drive,(shifting at 3800 rpms) ,street tires, and most important, 5800 ft above sea level, yes the car has ran faster but i prefer to go around corners ,and there fore the car is set up for road racing,so im not concerned with a 14 flat , its fast enough for me :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley: :roflsmiley:

This is a great thread .. When I scale my cars its with the doors in my shop closed
I find a + - read with a 5 mph breeze when my doors are open so whats my point .
We didnt make scale one night fell short 9 lbs ,we are aloud to roll off the scales and reset before a dq so I turned my car around we had an 8 mph breeze all night and facing my car to the wind we went over by 12 lbs = 21 gain . you can pick up 40 + lbs between two exact cars if one has a repaint and some filler not to mention full undercoat ... and a teaser plug wires weigh in at 3 oz per inch and yes we care .
great thread

I forgot to mention that the reason for facing the car is the built in rake and open scoops and if a wing plays a part that adds to the mix .
