Glovebox Lock
« on: September 25, 2010 - 07:11:03 AM »
Can anyone tell me what the trick is to remove it?
Mine's not quite right but i can't seem to work out how to detach it from the face panel so I can see if I can fix it or not.

Hmmm...patience is something I DO have.

Been trying to do this tonight but I think my trunk key doesn't fit the glovebox.
Can't even get the tabs/pins shown in the other thread to appear.
Nothing seems to line up and it just turns.

I'll keep trying!!! :pullinghair:

If the key does not fit I guess a locksmith is needed.

Hey!!!
Minor success!!!!

I got the sh!ts with it,put some spray oil in there and walked away from it the other day.

Just now got a little enthusiasm back to try again and now the key fits!!!!

I guess it's been a looooooong time since it's had a key in there.

NOW to see if I can disassemble it :clueless:

I removed the glove box door when I was working on mine...I could not imagine doing this with the door in place, used a tiny allen wrench to depress the magic tab.

But I've been sidetracked cruising round the net so still to get to it

once it is locked the key has to be out to depress the retainer , you then have to depress each tumbler to continue to get the cylinder out
