Vinyl Dying Advice: Have you done this?

Looks like I'm going to be digging into my dash to fix my A/C as soon as I can gather the parts, I've got an NOS brown dash pad that needs a couple of minor repairs and then I need to dye it black.  Anyone had any experience with this?  There seems to be several products out there, but its a little unclear which are true dyes and which are paints made to look like a dye job.  I'd much rather go with a true dye for longevity if not looks, too.  Any advice especially if you've done this would be greatly appreciated.

I have used SEM Poducts , they have a prep which cleans & softens the plastic first then a dye that sprays on , worked great for me
