I have had to hammer and dolly out some of my trim pieces .... window and more specifically my headlight bezels.    In getting the creases out, I had to sand then polish the trim.   Obviously I could  leave it and re-polish periodically, but I am sure that this exposed metal is oxidizing almost immediately.

Has anyone found a clear coating or wax that doesn't yellow this bare metal?   What about clear lacquer in a rattle can?

Any positive and negative experiences appreciated.   :feedback:

Thanks ... CHAPS

You can get them anodized or use Glisten PC clear, it works great on polished stuff

i used regular DuPont clear coat on the grill in my 66 f-100. We sanded it with 400, 600, 1500, then 2000,  buffed it out and clear coated it and its been 3 years since that and it still looks awesome

Anodizing is what they did from the factory, if it did yellow it would be like 50 years. The clear coating i used has never yellowed

Thanks for your input.   I will give the clear coat a try.   Did you notice any difference to the shine?

Thanks .... CHAPS

The piece we did was a 66 f-100 grille. We didnt sand it down to show quality, just cleaned it up a little bit, we also didnt do any dent removal. I didnt notice a difference once it was clear coated. If you have spent a lot of time on these, i would suggest maybe getting some old small piece of trim off something else that isnt valuable and trying it first. I would hate to tell you that there was not a difference and then you clear coat them and not be happy with them.

Okay ... I will try it on one of my test parts first.   Thanks for the follow up.
