Not worth the trouble now. You degree to make sure the cam is installed correctly as well as verify top dead center on your balancer. You can start retarding and advancing the cam to move the powerband around but the gains won't be worth the trouble. Now on custom ground cams it can be much more important. sometimes cams get ground incorrectly, on the wrong blank, etc, etc. I have never had an off the shelf cam come wrong, but have had custom grinds off as well as a billet timing gear that was mismarked one tooth. That would have made the cam timing 13 degrees off!
