It would be interesting to see if there were a significant difference in the resistance of a plug wire that was fouling compared to a similar length wire from one that is not fouling.

That's another good thought. I'll check the resistance of the wires when I get home tonight.

here's what I found today in regards to the wire resistance:
#1 clean 12K ohms
#2 clean 7K ohms
#3 clean 15K ohms
#4 fouled 10K ohms
#5 clean 16K ohms
#6 fouled 10K ohms
#7 fouled 12K ohms
#8 fouled 10K ohms
Jason and Al got me thinking about the intake so I also pulled the carbs off to look inside of the intake. Maybe this is the problem. Does it look like this intake has been modified. I'm not a Hemi expert by any stretch. Does this look right or has it had some milling done to it under the carb area.

Here's a picture of the plugs after 70 miles. soory it is a little blurry but you can clearly see the difference between the clean and fouled plugs.

I don't not see any pattern but the difference from the highest to lowest is extreme. I would expect the least resistance from the shorter & more from the longer so #1 & 3 blows my theory being higher resistance & clean plugs.

Thanks for the input. Even though the theory didn't pan out I think I probably need a new set of wires. I'll order a set tonight to eliminate them as the problem.

How was the idle?  Hard to tell from the pics, but the gaskets look like maybe they were sucking air up under the carb. Front carb, back of gasket and rear carb back of gasket. Is it the pic or me?  The maybe air leaks would affect those cylinders that are fouling.  I just can't tell. I know Nick sold me some firecore wires that mad a night/day difference .   Are the air/fuel mixtures set with a vacuum gauge?   I just am not sure at this point

http://www.streetrodandperformance.com/images/edl-7501.jpg this duel plane manifold has a wall up the middle with a notch cut out if this helps . what manifold are you using ? a duel plane manifold should be pretty damn close as far as air fuel mixture .

I can't remember where I got the intake from. I've had it for 15 years or more. It is an original hemi piece with the pentastar and casting numbers. I agree with you guys though. After comparing mine with reproduction intakes on e-bay, my manifold is definitely modified. I guess I'll have to bite the bullet and get a new intake now. Here's the one on e-bay.

I ordered a new intake manifold tonight. Should have it next week. Any luck and this will get the problem close to being fixed.
Anyone need a cheap "slightly" modified intake manifold?......lol
