Cowl drainage

I took a really good look at my cowl drainage area and what a mess. The entire bottom is filled with rusty crap.  When it rains I get water dripping down on my floor mat from somewhere.

Anyone have a good picture of this area?  I need to see what it's supposed to look like and how it drains.  I think I am missing somthign in there. 

Also I need the cowl vent cover screws if anyone knows what they are or where to find them.  I tried at spring fling and nobody brought any.

Yep, it sure is a good place for leaves and stuff to accumulate. 

For drainage, there should be a rubber flap at the bottom where the cowl and firewall meet.  Also, there are drainage holes on both driver and passenger sides of the cowl.

I'll have to dig for pics or snap one tonight.

Thanks if you happen to have a pic I would love to see it.  I have to put on my waders and excavate down there to see what I have after I get my tetanus shot updated.

Looking at the ones on my Challenger, they appear to be just 1/4' sheet metal screws

If you are getting H2O inside from the area, you probably have a rust issue from the water and debris staying in there.  I suspect that it has rusted through and now the water is coming through the firewall into the cabin. 

Sounds like you are on the right track to getting the issue solved though.

Side drains found on both sides.  This is the driver (left) side:


Engine bay drain, found underneath the wiper motor and should have a rubber flap on it

Here is a pic of some aftermarket parts that seem to match what I have in my car.   I am trying to figure out how this area drains.  The rainy season is here.

The drain slot is directly under the wiper motor area. Shows it in the top pic of your post.

No they are hidden behind the fender.

They all have that drain under the wiper motor unless some idiot has filled it in with body filler.
