8 3/4 rebuild ?
« on: November 03, 2010 - 07:32:34 PM »
Is there a place where I can get a rebuild kit or a service that rebuilds the rearend?

Should I just do the chunk or should I do everything?

Car sat for 4 years and makes a loud clunk when it goes into gear.  I am going to replace the joints, but was wondering what to do about the rearend.

Did you by chance see this article?

http://www.moparmusclemagazine.com/techarticles/drivetrain/5148_custom_rear_end_install/index.html

At the very last page it gives 3 references. Many members here and on Moparts contact Drdiff.com.

I'd check the u-joints before you tear it apart.  Loud clunk sounds doesn't seem like a gear problem.

As stated, I am replacing the u-joints, but the car sitting for so long worries me.  I am going to have it out to go over the underbody and figured it was the perfect time to rebuild the unit.

If a ring and pinion set are in the plans to be replaced, I would recommend Richmond ring and gear. One of the best.
