I wanted to introduce myself
« on: October 29, 2010 - 10:09:19 PM »
Hello,

I wanted to introduce myself. I am Eric Martin and live in the middle of Illinois. I originally registered on this site in 05 and recently rediscovered it. My long term project that I am working on is a 70 Challenger v-code car. I originally bought the car in 99 and took it apart in 2000 and between college, buying a house, having a kid and buying a second house I finally have the space, time and money to finish the car.

Challenger stats...

It's B7 blue with a white interior and side stripe
440 Six Pack with a four speed
Radio "delete" car

History of the car...

Sold new at Preston Road Dodge in Dallas TX (I assume this since it had a Preston Emblem on the trunk lid)
1970-1975ish the history is fuzzy. The only thing I know from this time period is it was in a minor fender bender damaging the hood and a original T/A replaced the damaged original.
1975-1982ish the car was owned by a Randy Balcom or Valcom (spelling?) in Dallas. I believe at the same time Randy had a Hemi b-body. The story I got from a later owner is Randy had both transmissions out of both cars at the same time. It appears the b-body transmission was installed in my Challenger so I assume my Challenger's transmission was installed in the b-body. The transmission I have is a 18 spline transmission with a b-body partial vin. If anyone with a Hemi b-body from around Dallas has a ebody 18 spline please let me know and we can compare numbers.
1982-1987 David Brodnax from Irving, TX had the car and he raced it with a Hemi installed
1987-1999 Mike Benton from Waxahachie, TX owned the car with it sitting most of those years.
1999-present I have had the car sitting mostly apart for the last decade.

I will be posting several questions as I get more involved with this project so I want to thank everyone in advance for their help.

Here is a pic right after I bought it.

I am going for a "day 2" look. The only thing I am adding option wise is a Shaker Hood. As far as the day 2 look is concerned I have some vintage Dixco gauges and I am looking for any vintage speed parts

Just a thought...if you decide to add a radio, Neil (Chyrco) is looking for an unmolested radio-delete plate.
