......OK I'm doing this engine (440 RB) and had to step away from it for 9 months.....the wife needed her "projects" done. Thank God that BS is over with.
Now since I'm a Chevy guy, and am not too familiar with these engines, I have a couple of Questions regarding the valvetrain.
The hydraulic lifters have no provision for pumping oil up the pushrod for oiling. The pushrods are solid ends....so no oil going through there either ....so my question is How does the pushrod/rocker arm socket get its supply of oil??
Now I know that the rocker arm shafts have a timed oil supply, and the shafts fill with oil, and lube the rockers, but I can't see how the rocker arm/pushrod joint gets oiled....Whats the secret??
What rockers do you recommend for a mild build up. Its going to have 9.5:1 compression, 906 heads with a pocket port, Comp magnum 280H cam (230@050" with .480" lift). Will the stockers be OK of would you recommend something else. I have to replace the rockers and shafts anyhow because of wear, so spending a few extra bucks is expected.
Any help is appreciated.
