Cooter, intresting read. I've often wondered about converting "truck" Dana 60's. I hate to admit how many went to the shredder in the past 26 years!  :grinyes:  :banghead:

Cooter I used to do the Dana's the same way.  I always used 70 and earlier B body axles to get the correct length, due to a larger center section.  What did you use?

I have another question Cooter.  Is your snubber only connected to the webbing?  If so I used to connect the same way and broke the webbing with 4 speed cars.

The picture isn't very clear, but there's a piece of 1/4 thick metal bent over the pinion for support and welded to the front of snubber...I knew the webbing wouldn't hold it on it's own as that car will be a straight gear like the Chally.

I have always welded a square block under the snubber where it meets the differential.  I weld the block so it sits close to the front bearing area.  It works the same as what you have.  What axles did you use?

Stock E-body..Don't need no high doller axle in these cars as they wouldn't hook in 50 Acre field anyway...

So what is your Dana's overall width?

when useing the dana 60 you are actually going for the beefier center section. It is far superior over the 8 3/4 in strenght. and the reason for aftermarket axles is they are stronger and made with a better material. The tubes isn't so much the hard part to weld up, it is the truness of the bearing races that dictate how long your axles and bearings will last. If they are off at all, the bearing will not last for any long term periods and fail. You won't hear it, or feel it, untill the damage is done.  If you are wanting a stronger pinion snubber install on your dana, here is what the kit looks like, that makes it a clean install. Useing 1 inch bar stock, cutting them on the correct angle , then drill and tapping them for the correct bolts. This is a doc dif kit. It can be migged right on. Remeber, if you use stock 8 3/4 axles and your car is into 3400 lbs and up, you chance breaking the axle, or twisting the spline, once you start adding big block tq and hooking the car up.

Stock E-Body. Drum to Drum .I just measured carefully, then cut the rears and rewelded 'em.
