Jon I do not know how he did it either. When I went to look at it in the shop he just told me he had a little trouble getting it in. Thats when he said he had to bend/flex it a little and it took 2 of them to do it.

I have a Challenger and was able to slide my 1 piece trunk floor in under the tail panel without removing the tail panel. It is a tight fit, but there was just enough room between the tops of the frame rails and the bottom of the tail panel to work the flloor in and kind of flop it into place. You have to start by by inserting the floor in with it angled up in the front but once you clear the shock "bumps" you could slide it into place. I welded the lip on the trunk floor pan to the outside bottom edge of the tail panel and I don't know if this is right but that is how it was when I took it apart and the new floor fit well that way. I don't know who made this particular repalcement but I did have to cut out the openings for the top shock mount bolts.

Was the piece that is under the tail panel that goes behind both frame rails (don't know what it is called) in place when you did this?  I have it in place on my car and I'd need to remove it to slide my floor through there, but it looks like it would work if I did.

OK, quick update.

I was able to get the trunk floor in using my method which was:

1.  Cut out the trunk gutters on both sides and cut up to the top of the quarter panel lip.
2.  Slide the trunk pan in with the front pointing down and pushing as far forward as possible.  Then drop the back in so that it sits flat.  Then lift the front of the trunk pan so that it is as high as it can lift toward the dutchman.
3.  Pull the pan as far back as possible and begin working the trunk floor rear lip under the tail panel gently using 2 small pry bars.  I worked left to right across the whole tail panel.

I then needed to do some light hammering on the back of the trunk lip where I bent it a little from the pry bar. 

It didn't take very long and was definitely more preferable than removing the tail panel.
