Alright, well, this hotel just went on my sh!t-list...  They came back and tried to boost me another $30 per night.

So now I'm stuck again - not sure what to do as I've called most of the good hotels in the area, and I'm out of town for the next three days and won't be able to get back to this until next week...

So either I book the Courtyard, (making everyone pay another $30 a night anways, but for a much nicer stay) or we go back to the drawing board...

I'm very upset about this, and I apologize...

Well I say, if we have to pay an extra 30 a night then we may as well upgrade the hotel as well. Besides, who wants to stay where they won't honor a price quote. You didn't say June.

Which one is best for vehicle security? I'm a little paranoid about that as I have never left my buggy unattended ever. I know, I know that's what insurance is for. :-\

The Best Western down in New Cumberland hasa  pretty small lot as I recall - it's kinda shoe-horned into the street corner in front of the hotel we have been staying at in the past.

The Courtyard on the other hand has a pretty big parking lot, though it doesn't really have the "back-lot" like we've enjoyed in the past - we'll kinda just have to make home in a back corner of the lot.

The Courtyard doesn't have any double beds, but they do have pull-out sofas which - if you just mention that you'll need it upon checking in, they'll have it premade for you with fresh linens, etc.

Courtyard just called me to check in - even though I didn't book them, they kinda held the rooms for me.  I'm not keen on the extra money either - the GOOD news is that it's a bit more central to Mechanicsburg, so even if not everyone decides to stay there, it's only 10 minutes or so from the other hotels, so people can still come hang out in the lot before heading back to their hotels at night.

I'm really tempted to go ahead and book the Courtyard...  The only thing I can say at this point is, "I'll do better next year!"

Thoughts?  I told them I'd call them back after lunch-time with a verdict.

My experiences with notthebest western  have been just that. Not the best> So I would rather pony up a little more to stay at a nicer place.
But whatever the group wants is O.K. with me. We sure appreciate you doin all this leg work Jeff. Thanks

Okay - reservations have been made AGAIN.

We have a block of 10 rooms at the Courtyard by Marriott Harrisburg West / Mechanicsburg.

Phone number is 717-766-9006 - rooms reserved under the name Cuda-Challenger-dot-Com

Rate is $129 a night - and I have that in WRITING...

Cut-Off for reserving is 6/7/11 - so don't wait past then to book your room.  :)

Only single bed rooms are available - I'm terribly sorry for this inconvenience, but this was the case at just about everywhere I called.  THEY DO however have pull-out sofas that they will put fresh linens on ahead of time if you simply request it upon reserving your room.

If you really need double beds, I'd suggest calling the Comfort Inn Capital City (yes their the snakes who upped the price on me, but at least they have double beds and are literally HALF a mile from the Courtyard.

This hotel is RIGHT off of Route 15 in Harrisburg.  VERY easy to get to, nice area, quiet dead-end street.  I'll post better directions later when I have more time.  Please note that if you're staying for Sunday, I only booked the rooms through Sunday at noon - you can stay for half-rate until 4 on Sunday, or simply add another night to your reservation.  Rooms are booked to start on Thursday night.

I just want to say that I'm very sorry for not securing the price or even necessarily the options that most had hoped for.  I didn't start on this as soon as I should have.  If given the opportunity, I'll work a little harder next year!  (I do think though that hotels in this area are just overpriced.  I'm staying THIS weekend in a Hyatt Regency hotel in WASHINGTON D.C. for $99 a night, and it's Cherry Blossom Festival in D.C.!!!)

I will post more details when I return next week.  Thank you for your patience, guys.  Can't wait to see everyone.
