Is 2.76 gears with 440/727 going to be slugish?

Got it off Craigslist,  local in Pompano Beach, fl.  County Line Auto, the owner races on weekends , and is a Mopar guy,  69 Roadrunner,  Seamed like a really nice guy,   Have to now stop buying parts and concintrate on the rust.      Most people think I'll be happy with the 3.55.

Hey Dan, DO yourself a favor now and get yourself some white lithium grease in the tub. Brush some on the front and backsides of those teeth on the ring gear..Then, rotate the unit by turning the pinion (piece in front) while holding the ring gear like your trying to stop it from turning...Do this fowards and backwards and post a pic of the teeth contact pattern..This will tell you if whoever set up the gears has the wear pattern correct or not...At least you'll know NOW, instead of having it all the way in the car to find out it howls...The pattern should be in the middle of the teeth. Should wipe off the grease, and show a "Shadow Spot" on the face of the teeth on the ring gear.

I did the test when  I bought it and the pattern looked in the middle of the teeth.  But I will do it again and post a pic so the experts here can comment.  I was sorta hard for me to see the pattern, but it wasn't off the edges.
