So I wonder if it was a high and mighty Galen who made the bogus fender tag or if it was changed out later?I`m sure Galen has records of the tag he made.  :dunno:

I agree with you that no one knows for certain. The factory never kept color records.  It is a nice looking car.

Buddy I understand and have seen the ugly side of the mopar world .
I think your point will fall on deaf ears here its unfortunate that ya can jerk this crowd around like step children so long as ya come off as a nice guy . I have never sold a block that the customers first question wasn't do you have a warranty block .
I just looked at a thread were a guys bent up over the ad he saw on a car he once owned , then admits he sold a rusty non match dog  and ya just have to ask what his sales pitch was to dump the car . all im sayin is ya can't fix the human condition.

 exactly..even with a real example before their  eyes !  i just look at the 2 pictures of the same car and wonder how many more are out there? govier made a tag for my car in 98 for fred engelhart . i think it is ok to redo all the cars! just be up front .. don't take a " real " and  rare car and say " i dont like the color or options so ill just change them  or add some options to make it look even  more  special or more desireable, then pass it off as the real deal . :horse:

The car you speak about was mine.  I sold it to the guy that sold it to the current owner.  I bought the car from a guy on this site (for 21K plus shipping) and it wasn't what I was told.  I spent many thousands of dollars to make the car better.  I even FLEW Neil (Chryco Psycho = the master tech on this site) to my house and paid him to work on the car for 3 days. When I sold it (for less than I paid, not even counting the thousands I put in to it) I told the buyer everything and even put the car on a lift to POINT out the issues.

It was and still is a rusty non matching car with a dog engine.  Even if the new owner says it was COMPLETELY restored and has all number matching motor and trans.

If you would like more information on the car, feel free to call me.  PM me if you want my number.  I still have the sales agreement I made the owner sign stating everything.

Have a good day.

The funniest thing about this particular signature is that by the time you realize it doesn't say anything it's to late to stop reading it.

Im glad you posted the link for us to read.  You went through hell trying to get that car back.   Bottom line in my eyes is, it does suck to invest in a car and loose money since it turns out to be stollen. Hi priced cars usually are checked out intensively to make sure things are what they are.  Some got stung along the way, emotions and words thrown all around. But bottom line is, your car was stolen, then returned back to the original family.   I took this post as a warning post to anyone buying a high dollar car, to do the home work and that good things can come back to you years later with a little effort.   Kudos :2thumbs:    everybody carries a skeleton of some type. Sooner or later truth comes out. So I don't know enough to comment on all people involved and have no remarks to say either way about any of them.   Enjoy your car

I agree with you also Al.  I hope Buddy does.  I didn't want to see this turn into a bashing thread, even if someone might deserve it.  Sounds like the authorities have done all they can.

no bashing.. warning, yes. i saw the same names in a magazine and  the feds have also played the tapes of him stating his ability to boost a car  value with his connections..  another posted reply turned it into a reputation ordeal..i thought, it is what it is .. they are facts , not opinions straight from court records. oh well it sure gave a lot of people somthing to do!!! [ i do agree with mopar al]  hence the warning... how many more[ so called real ones ] are out there?  :22yikes: :-X

Just a thought the gm ss registry has more ss models in it than were ever made , i get your point here though. i would never place value on a seller or buyers word but on good research and hands on inspection its the only safe way to do business . cheers
