Hawk,
Nice paintwork!  Help a brother out and tell us how you do it.  My spray can efforts need improvement.  Frame off restoration 1st :grinyes:

Hawk, welcome to E-town. Your work is un-freakin'-believable! I had to look twice to be certain they were models. The paint is near perfection. Can I commission you to do a model? :worship:

Thanks again for all the kind words everyone!

4cruzin:
The floor and console is black (the floors are carpeted), and the seats, top, and door panels are white. This is correct, I hope. :???:

That first pic looks like a real steel body. Was that a die cast? I really like the finished product in the second pic! Have any other pics?

Kuda:
I`ll send you a PM or email.

Hawk,
The body is the ERTL Phantasm 71 340 Cuda diecast.  I chose it for the Rallye hood.  Most Cuda diecasts I've seen have a Shaker hood, but I wanted one like my car.  That explains the body-color bumpers also.  I guess I'll do an engine swap as well.  I still want to paint the grille and valence insert, but that may require more patience than I have.  I also have a 70 Challenger convertible diecast with Rallye hood as is my real Challenger.  I learned enough about painting to know I'll strip ithe model and try again now.  Hence my desire to learn more about your painting technique.  The red one was painted over bare metal with automotive touchup paint in a spray can.  The Challenger was done with hardware store white over grey primer.  It doesn't begin to have the lusture of any of your models.  Are they diecast, plastic, or other?

Collision damage  :-[

BTW, I use Aluminum duct tape (real aluminum for ducts) for the chrome strip on the hood, and the windshield frame on the Challenger.  Haven't finished the Cuda windshield yet.

All the ones you see are plastic kits. I have yet to build a die cast. To get the shine, I use autmotive laquers generally, and alot of clear coat. Once it is cured, I wet sand them and rub them out using a fine cut compound. Since I use automotive laquers, I can use automotive polishes as well.

Maybe just a few.  ;D ;D

everyone:

I am just starting to wrap this thing up. It seems like this project is lasting forever, but I am almost there. I may have pictures by this weekend or shortly thereafter.
