 :2thumbs: As for the price, like I said before, I think it is very fair.  I saw on a moparts thread where his markup is less than 10%, which in reality is barely breaking even, so you know he is not out to make a quick buck like other vendors.  He will have to sell a lot of these just to recoup all of his engineering and R&D costs.

Plus, and this should appeal to a lot of people on this board, it's made in the USA!!!!

If that was a picture of the Passon 5 speed, I think its gorgeous!  If its made as well as it looks it will be worth the $4300 in the long run.  I'd already decided on putting a 5 speed in the Roadrunner, this has me thinking about one for the Barracuda too!  I'm assuming he sells a shifter that either accepts the original pistol grip shifter handles or has a 'stock' appearing one made to fit the new trans.

That is a picture of the unit and I agree it is a beautiful piece. Not sure what the weight is but I believe it is an aluminum case. As far as shifter goes, it will come with a new mechanism that will accept your stock handle.

Couldn't find a mention of what was used to make the case, but I believe an original cast iron A-833 4-speed weighs 150 lbs, so it might be a good guess that at that weight the Passon 5 speed is Aluminium - but that's just an assumption.

That's my thinking. Having an auto, it's still going to cost north of $5,000 for a new aftermarket gearbox, all the bibs-n-bobs needed for the conversion, plus the cost to actually have the bodywork & installation done (plus I also have shipping and tax fees I'll have to cover to get it here to Oz, which will be in the vicinity of $1000+) - so waiting a little longer & saving for an extra $1,000-$2000 for a better functioning (and more aesthetically pleasing) gearbox like the Passon is a no-brainer. It makes no sense for me to spend that amount of money on something I'll only kinda-sorta want, when a little extra cash will get me that something a really want.

Ya i want one.

$1300 more than a comparable Keisler, but at least you won't have to hack the floor and have weird driveline angles.  That's worth the extra cost IMHO.

Only ***** is that if you're converting from an auto, you have to come up a four-speed crossmember and a driveshaft, whereas the Keisler comes w/that.

I like the OD ratio better.  .70 is better than .64 or .82 in the Tremec.  Wonder if there's a warranty.

There are no "weird driveline angles" in our Mopar E/B/Abody Tremec kits if you follow the directions. 

But, we do have a new transmission solution - the Keisler RS 5-Speed that is based on the original USA made BorgWarner T45 of which over a quarter million units were produced through 2001.  Go-Fish called this transmission a "baby T56" because it was developed several years after the T56 6-speed and uses the same advanced technology carbon fiber lined multicone synchro system the T56 uses (exact same parts).  It is a robust transmission, and we developed new gearing and cases for it.  This transmission fits way better than our TKO Perfect kits and ....

A complete kit (including driveshaft) is just $2295 for the RS400 (400 torque), $2595 for the RS500 (500 torque) and $2995 for the RS600 (600 torque) close ratio model.

A new main case in Q2/2011 will feature the A833 bolt pattern for a direct hook-up to the factory mopar bellhousings.

If your product is so great why is not in my road race car???  I can tell you why-because I can't be missing shifts and have "unusual" drive line angles going 130 mph. 

 

Tom, for what it's worth, I think your talking out of your talking out of your back side right now. It's also pretty funny that you, with a whopping 33 posts are acting as a moderator and saying Shafi shouldn't be posting on here. Isn't this a free discussion area? When did it become Tom-Quad dot com?

I, for one, am not the idiot that bought a TKO to go road racing with. I have one and it is better than what it replaced, which was an empty trans tunnel. It's not a road racing transmission and I don't ever remember Keisler billing it as one. I distinctly remember reading the warning from them before I purchased that it's isn't a drag race tranny, you can't run slicks behind a 650 hp engine and think your new 5 speed can handle it. Same goes for road racing. The 2-3 shift is something from Tremec, brother.

I'll share with you my experience. I got great customer service, of course I didn't act like an A-hole so your results may vary. My drive shaft angle is not "weird" and I don't have any vibrations. I have some whining but that, again, is inherent in the TREMEC TKO's as a whole, Keisler didn't rig all of theirs to vibrate for sucker customers. Lastly, I didn't buy the wrong tool for the job and later complain, sounds like your experience.

I am looking at their new RS because I would like to get rid of the 2-3 shift problem that is a Tremec problem, not a Keisler design flaw. It's in any of them. "Why didn't they tell me about it?", you say? I was informed that I could break my tranny if my tires hooked with my 650hp and 580 lb/ft in my 'cuda. Of course, I talked about it with them. From your complaining, and not knowing you and not being connected to Keisler in any way, it sounds like you rushed right in and bought a product you didn't do any research on until after something went wrong, then shout to high heaven that you've been ripped off.

My car probably makes 200-300 more horsepower than yours and alot more torque, I don't have any weird driveline angle, I didn't have to do major surgery (I did have to cut my floor but wasn't sold snake oil on that and I can redo it with the same effort), I don't have vibrations, and the transmission performs as advertised.

I guess I'm missing where Keisler ever sold you a "road race" transmission. Didn't know they had that product.

Finally, I wanted to post this for at least two posts from Tom, but decided that with "only" my little few posts, it wouldn't have been recieved very well....I get what 'ol Tom is saying, it's just the delivery that makes me glad we haven't had the "oppertunity" to meet face to face yet...

It really isn't about post count. A guy with a million posts may not know anything and then we see a Mopar Wizard that just stumbles upon our site starts out with zero posts like the rest of everybody and knows, exponentially, more than 85% of us.
Post count doesn't equal Mopar or Anycar smarts. Post counts are usually greater with moderators. A guy with 33 posts usually hasn't proved himself in forum etiquette, no matter the mechanical knowledge, to be a moderator. A non-moderator or Staff member can't be telling people that they are not wanted on the forum. Nobody can really even speak for everyone.
I, for one, am glad Keisler reps are on this sight. Good or bad, I am glad any aftermarket vendor is here. Keisler, in my eyes, brought something to the table when nobody else could. They sell a 5 speed transmission that has an overdrive so you can improve the cruiseability of your musclecar. They do not claim to sell racing transmissions. The biggest thing to look at with any aftermarket product is if it is better than the OEM. Hopefully, to avoid disappointment, the buyer of a Keisler TKO is needing a 5 speed manual transmission. I did. I did my research and weighed the pros and cons. I knew the problem with the 2-3 shift, I knew about the tires hooking and causing problems. So, my street tires are the fuse that breaks before my tranny does.
Even with the 2-3 shift problem, I felt Keislers TKO was the best out there for my needs (at the time). Now it looks like there are a few more coming out that are better. They weren't around then. Keisler is at the top of my list because of the way I was treated in the past by them and the pricing (which is the #1 factor). The fact that they have T56-ized the T45 makes it interesting. The fact that they have the project manager from the T56 is a good move in my mind.
It is what it is. If every aftermarket vendor "went away" after every time somebody said they the company was just a Snake Oil operation we wouldn't have any aftermarket.
