Poor Aussies
« on: February 06, 2011 - 07:57:12 AM »
:pullinghair:  When does it end for these people? First (and still) all the flooding, then that typhoon, and now there is a wildfire that has already destroyed 35 homes. Please guys, stay safe and keep us updated.  :sadwavey:  :angelwings:

Yeah, I've been watching this too. Good luck, antipodeans.

It is getting bad all over, Queensland (up north) is soaked and now my state Victoria (down south) is having massive heavy rain which is flooding all low lying areas. A picture at a train station the other night showed a river half way up to the top of the platform and the train still moving. I am very high up so only affected by water run off, I had my drive graded and dressed last Wednesday (130 yards long) and now most of it is on the road, my house is supposed to be put up for sale this week, will have to do it again. I cannot complain as many have lost everything. And now the fires in West Australia fanned by high winds, started by sparks from a grinding wheel. Keep in mind we are in the middle of our summer.
Ken, nqkjw, in Townsville put some of his earth moving equipment in front of his shed to protect his cars, he was close to the cyclone.

I live about 45 minutes away from the fire in Western Australia has taken out over 60 homes. The main area where it started was just an accident waiting to happen. Lots of those houses are on stilts as they are built on the sides of hills and people love to be surrouned by trees and bush.. but at what cost??
My friends father lost 5 homes in his street, he was spared. My ..I hate to say father inlaw also was saved ..shame I couldn't have cared if his went up pfft!
