cuda sail panel pics?
« on: January 05, 2011 - 03:38:33 PM »
hi all,  id like to see some cuda sail panel pics of panels that you guys installed, I still have my originals (poor condition) and holding them in place leave a gap along the package tray.   I'm going to use the originals as a pattern to make my own but need to see others to make sure I'll have all the gaps covered and to use as a comparison.  Made my own package tray with 1/8" eucaboard and covered it with black vinyl from jo-anns fabrics so Im trying the sails now.  The p.t cost me a total of 11 bucks,  and im happy with it.
thanks for the pics and info

Like you I also had to make my own panels from a pattern of what was left on the car (and it wasn't good).  I think different years may be different (mine is '72).

I ended up with a little gap just near the parcel shelf and I couldn't be bothered to go through it all again so I packed and filled it with a little bit of spare vinyl and it looks fine.

The maon problem I had was that the hard-board I used was quite stiff, if I was to do it again I think I would try wetting the back of the board and letting it soak in before installation so that the board will conform to the shape of the rear panel fit.  Then when it dries out hopefully it will sit in the right curve.
