new sheet metal selection
« on: January 18, 2011 - 09:49:21 PM »
I am getting ready to order some new sheet metal for my 70 R/T and want to make sure I get the right stuff.

I found this ad on ebay and it seems way to good to be true. I know the guys a legit seller but I was wondering if maybe the manufacturer was a lesser brand or if these panels require additional modifications.

http://cgi.ebay.com/ebaymotors/ws/eBayISAPI.dll?ViewItem&item=310275798276&viewitem=&sspagename=STRK%3AMEWAX%3AIT

The seller is Valley Vintage Auto Parts

I was going to call or email him with questions but I want to make sure I ask the right stuff before I feel staisfied and place the order.

Is there a brand of sheet metal I should avoid? Do all of the makers have nuts welded on for horns and the caged nuts for the front of the hood hinge?

The kits they sell have tons of pieces that other kits dont have. I just want to make sure I dont wind up with 500 in sheet metal that requires alot of work to make work.

Thanks for the input.

Mike

I'd try Dave at Roseville first.  Quality parts, great service, they're a site sponsor, he's a member and will be a lot easier to get in touch with if there's a problem (and there are always problems).

I was trying not to pay full price but I'll go there if need be. I was starting to get lost in their website looking for all the individual items but the ad I posted seemed good cause it had everything together at a great price.

So no one has heard anything about Valley Vintage Auto Parts?

Email the auction to Dave and let him put together a package price. Every vendor understands that it's a competitive world, but at least give him the chance.
