Water pump bolts
« on: February 01, 2011 - 01:18:39 PM »
Does anyone have a picture or can tell me the length of the seven water pump bolts for a small block 360. I have the bolts but they are mixed up with my miscellaneous rusted bolts. A picture would be great. I was thinking that the bolts have washer heads on them. I don't remember. I do remember them being different sizes. I want to start assembling my engine to be painted but i'm stuck on these bolts. Any help would be appreciated. Thanks

A quick and dirty method is try the bolts in the holes until they're all in a hole with approx 1/2-3/4" sticking out. Don't forget the thread sealant.

The four very lomg ones go around the water pump passages. The shortest goes at top center into the timing cover. Mix and match the rest!

If they are rusty and dirty why not just spring for some new bolts, they are not expensive and you want good bolts holding on the water pump and front cover.
