Six pack choke question
« on: March 02, 2017 - 12:49:02 PM »
I just bought a NOS choke thermostat (adjustable) but instead of two mounting bolts to the intake manifold it has a hole for the rear bolt and a tab that sits in the front hole. It doesn't seem as secure as the reproduction ones. All the pictures I could find looked like they used two bolts. Before I modify an NOS part I would appreciate any input.

My original 73 thermostat used two bolts to attach it.  All the replacements I've seen only use one bolt and one tab.  I believe the factory switched to the one bolt style in 74 or in late 73.  I wasn't able to find a correct two bolt one for my car.  E-bay was full of the new style when I looked.

This was the only OE that I have seen. There seem to be plenty of reproduction (straight rod, non adjustable) out there. I believe I could cut off the tab and use a bolt in the front but I would like to make it as close to original as possible. It is on a 70 Challenger.
