Must sell fast. 1973 Dodge Challenger ***SOLD****
« on: March 05, 2013 - 11:18:43 AM »
Its been too long since I've been on this forum.  Life just gets in the way.

6 years ago my family and I moved in to our dream house.  Unfortunately, after a year we couldn't sell our old house.  It was a zero lot line, on a busy street and very small yard house, but it was still a good house.  It also had begun to devalue itself and was no longer worth what we originally bought the house for.  We decided to rent to my wife's family.  I knew they could be a bit irresponsible with money, but my niece was going to start High School and they never stayed in the same apartment for longer than a year.  I wanted her to have a full High School experience in a good school.  The area has a really good High School (the stadium is where they filmed Friday Night Lights).  I wanted to help them get on their feet, be responsible and eventually own the house.  They were to work on their credit to buy the house and my niece would be in the same school for 4 years.  They did fine at first but eventually they started coming up short with the rent.  I counted on this and was able to pay the shortage.  I figured as long as they were fixing their credit right?  They eventually got worse.  It got to the point where we could predict when they would be short.  Every birthday month, every March when SouthbySouthwest was on (they would always get VIP weeklong passes) and in the fall with ACLfest (again VIP passes).  Eventually, they would skip out on entire months rent.  On June 10, 2010 my beautiful second daughter was born.  She is a handful.  Shortly before her first birthday she was diagnosed with nasal cysts.  She has had several operations to remove them and repair damage.  This combined with the continued irresponsibility of the renters drained all my savings (they even went so far as to owe us thousands and take a Vegas vacation).  We confronted them about it and gave them the ultimatum to buy the house or move out.  They failed to get any type of credit (they did nothing the last 6 years to fix their credit) and we forced them out of the house last September.  They left the house in bad shape, as well as owing us about 5k.  3 bathrooms in the house and only one was working.  Their large dog did lots of damage to the yard and inside the house.  After they moved we found that they owed a thousand to the water company and several hundred to the city for trash (the city had stopped collecting their trash 9 months prior). They also owed hundreds in fees since they never kept up with the lawn.  The city had several violations on record due to complaints from the neighbors about the condition of the yard.  How lazy do you have to be to not mow your lawn for months?  All I can say is at least my niece had a great experience with High School.  We have always been her second set of parents and tried to teach her about money and responsibility, more so than her actual parents.  So at least there is that.  Since September we have tried to get this moved on as a short sale, but its difficult to do when it is a second house.  We've had all kinds of problems getting an offer on the house that can cover the loan balance.  We finally have an offer on the table, but I need to come to closing with 15k.  Which is why I need to sell my car.  :violin:

Here is the post where I did my teardown.

Here is the craigslist add.  Car is located in Pflugerville, TX just outside of Austin, Texas.

I am forced to sell my 1973 Dodge Challenger. I have owned this car for about 6 years now. I stripped her down about 2 years ago and had it sand blasted. I have replaced several panels and had it repainted. The car has a 360 engine with a 6 speed Richmond transmission. Car was running well and strong when I took it apart. It was last registered in 2010. Car has aftermarket classic air A/C system. I have all parts except exhaust pipes (have flowmaster mufflers), exhaust manifolds and front windshield. Interior is complete. All new weatherstripping and wiring harness. Have new vinyl top not yet installed. I have the title in hand and this would make a great project with very little to finish. Please call 512-744-5321 for more information.

Sorry to hear about your rental problems. It makes it especially tough when it's family that's sticking you. I had a similar rental experience with a house we could not sell, but it wasn't family. Just section 8 trash. I hope you are able to sell your Challenger. It sounds like a good price for all it has going for it. I hope you sell it quickly & get your price!!  :2thumbs:

What a shame that these scumbag leaches of society have affected your life completely. I think a prison cell would & should be their very next residence. owing you all of that money & THEN going to las vegas for a VACATION ???? :villagers: I think the ONLY thing they would ever work hard at is ripping others off. That is bad when they have affected your life like they have and now YOU must give up something you love because of these pathetic jerks. I am sure you would go after them in court to recover financially but they have made sure they don't have anything that is theirs that you could get. Unfortunately, if you did take them to court , the judge may give them a break they certainly DON'T deserve because there is always somebody who will feel sorry on them and let them off making you look like the bad gut even after ALL you have done for them. what a shame that family can do this to family :clueless:
