biggest tires on stock '72 cuda rims?

I' getting new tires today and want to know what tires are the best and how big can i go on stock rims on my '72?

Asumming they are 14x6 in rims, I think you can do 225/70-14 or 235/60-14 if I remeber correctly.

Best to call a tire shop.  They have a book and if you tell them the size rime they can tell you what can be safeyl mounted without any tire distortion of the tread.  Too wide a tire on a narrow rim will make the center of the tread bulge causing an uneven wear pattern in the middle of the tire contact patch.

Not sure if they are difficult to find.  The rears on my car are 225/70-14.  I got them on the rims when I bought the rims.  They are Firestone Firehawk tires.  Not sure if they are real good or not as I do not have my car registered.  From what it seems though in the driveway, they have a traction problem even with my smogger 340 engine...  :burnout:

I went with the 225/70/14's. Cooper colbras. The look great and the car handles much better. However, the upper and lower control arm bushing are shot along with the tie rod bushings. the shocks are cooked to. The quote to repalce them was fricken ridiculous.. something like 1.5k.

Shop around for a good price.  Labor rates are  :money: .
