Is it a real Demon?
« on: September 07, 2011 - 08:48:31 PM »
Hey folks,
I picked up a '71 Demon a few months ago, and wsa wondering how you can tell if it was originally a Demon? My friend says that the first two letters of the vin should be LL, but I thought that just meant it was a Low end Dart. it is a slant six, which I know they produced in the Demon. Color has been changed, and the inner door and rear end Demon nameplates look original.
Thought I'd check with y'all before I bug/pay Galen Govier for an answer....
        Cheers

This should help. If not how about some more of the vin?

LL29    Demon 2Dr Fastback                 71 - 72
LL29    Dart Sport 2 Dr Fastback                 73 - 74

WANTED 71 cuda / barracuda project. Prefer Black but open.

The 2 door coupes were called Demons in 1971 and 1972 even with a slant six. In 1973 they became Dart Sports.

The 340 cars were called Demon 340 in 1971, Dart Demon 340 in 1972, and Dart 340 Sport in 1973.

Yup, the vin is LL29B1Bxxxxxx, so it looks like i've got a real one, albeit with a slant 6. Way better on gas than the 'Cuda at any rate (17 vs 11 or so).

I thought Demons had their own tail light panel from a visual stand point....

All the google images I see have the 4vertical rectangle red plus 2 vertical rectangle reverse lights on each side, apparently for both the Dart and Demon... The dual lights seem to be last used in 70...
