Need some help with 09 SRT8
« on: July 09, 2011 - 10:32:11 PM »
I keep a battery tender on all my cars.  I disconnected the tender and closed the trunk.  Got inside and it wouldnt start.  I tried to open the trunk and llock the doors with the phob, but it wouldnt work.  I assumed it was the phob and got the other phob, but same result.  I used the trunk button on the dash and that did not work either.  I assume it is something with the battery? but I can't get the trunk open.  Is there another way to open the trunk with no power other than pulling the back seat?  Has any one else had this problem?

If you open the hood there is a place to jump start the car or charge the battery up  enuf to power up the car to open the trunk

This may be a stupid observation on my part, but is there not a key option on the trunks of Challengers? Or just SRTs.

No key option on any of the models.

Kind of scary when your battery is in the trunk dead, and the trunk won't open.    :22yikes:

At one car show we were at we were asked to disconnect the battery , I told them flat out no way , there would be no possible way to get back in . there was no pwer nearby to use a battery charger & we would ahve ahd to boost it fromanother car to get the trunk open again

Thanks all! I opened the hood and jumped it from the post provided.  That gave me enough power to open the trunk and operate the phob.  For any other new Challenger owners as dumb as me.  If you use a battery tender dont leave the trunk open as you charge.  The dash lights remain on showing temp, trunk open etc.  The battery tender trickle charge can't keep up with the lights and over time will run your battery dead.  Charging from under the hood seems to work fine!  I use battery tenders on all my cars!
