:iagree:  I would not believe a thing from that bunch of supposedly independent researchers
In my industry, home appliances, if it comes from Sears it's always rated higher than the name brand that made it for Sears, I've seen IDENTICAL items marketed under different brands rated at the extreme ends of the chart.
I feel sorry for customers who shop strictly by their rag as they virtually always pay more than necessary and often would be better off with a different product......Rant Off.

I have had ZERO confidence in Consumer Reports for many years and it has not changed.  On items where I knew exactly how the item performed, how it was constructed and how it worked Consumer Reports would get it wrong.  They are as biased as can be on their "analysis" and send many people to the wrong products.  PK

I agree that for certain things they are irrelavant.
And the same with some of the surveys. To rate one car at the top of a list, and another at the bottom because of a few percentage points difference is very misleading.

For instance, a car with 4% complaint rate is rated as twice as bad, or 100% worse than a car with a 2% complaint rate. I'll take my chances with the extra 2% if I otherwise prefer the car! Thank you very much!!
As far as todays Chryslers, I think the old mopars werent exactly best known for the highest quality either, but its comparing apples to oranges. Todays cars are SO much different.

71gogreen, I agree with the flavor of what you said, but to say that JD is any better than CR is risky.

The majority of what JD publishes is 100% consumer survey. People are either on a buyer's high, or experiencing buyer's remorse, depending more on factors like peer acceptance than actual item quality.
