Dash Pad--finally delivered!

I finally got my dash pad back from Ultimate Rides--seven months later!  I've heard lots of pros and cons about getting dash pads redone.  The long time delay was no big problem as I anticipated by sending it early.  I was beginning to need it however when it finally arrived.  I sent in my old pad (core) and got the same one back.  I am pretty happy with the results.  It looks really good and fit well although the grain pattern is not like the old one.  The simulated stitching is pretty good and I really cannot find fault with it.  I have pictures that show how it looks before and after installation.  I took pictures of the old one before sending it out to record factory markings on the back side.  I transferred those marking to the new one prior to installation.  The markings consist of an ID tag of the vendor, a yellow X, a white letter S and a numeral 3 fashioned by hand, out of rubber.  The 3 probably was done by some employee with a little idle time on the production line. The finish on the pad is a little dull but I have not applied any dressing and some dusty finger prints are also visible.  Mike and Tom at Rocket Restorations looked it over and said it looks good.  They send several each year to UR and say that even with some problems they are probably the best and that seven months is very unusual lag time. Did you send your old one in with your vin tag? I'm also looking forward to seeing your pics with your lower trim installed. So far I think it looks great!

The charge was $660.00 but that covered shipping both ways.  I removed my VIN tag prior to shipping and re-installed it when it came back.  New, correct rivets are available but I carefully removed my old ones and reused them.  I sent it through Rocket Restorations since UR prefers not to deal with individuals.  Rocket did not charge me for their service.  I do/have bought lots of stuff at their place however.  PK

I bought my 70 Cuda dash pad from them and fit pretty well. I bought my 73 Challenger through a vender but was also done by them and looks good but not near ready to install.

Looks like a great job!  Price sounds reasonable from what I've heard too.

Did you redo or silk screen your VIN?  Looks like it's in good shape.

Yep my UR dash looks great except where the lower trim slips over it. Way too thick. Not even close. It took me three dashes to get one that was workable. I still haven't installed it, but I'll have to modify the lower areas for sure.

Thanks guys for all the feedback.  I cleaned up my original VIN tag and reused the original rivets. Since it took so long to get the pad back I had already installed the dash frame.  It would have been easier to install it all as a unit.  PK
